Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 is the new fast-charging system of the American giant, which will allow compatible Android devices to be able to achieve exceptional charging performances.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 5: what’s new
From 0% to 50% of battery in 5 minutes: this is what the new system promises to do thanks to the support of more than 100W of power.
In addition, Quick Charge 5 can also count on Qualcomm Battery Saver and Smart Identification of Adapter Capabilities technologies. Thanks to them it is possible to always offer the best possible charging system for a specific type of terminal, thus preserving the device and its battery. And that’s not all: the new quick charge also includes a whole new set of protections to avoid overheating and voltage overloads.
The Quick Charge 5 system also has the new power management integrated circuits (PMIC), the Qualcomm SMB1396 and Qualcomm SMB1398, which support 1SnP and 2Snp batteries, wired or wireless charging and an input voltage that it can exceed 20V (whether it is wireless or wired charging).
Fully backward compatible with Quick Charge 2.0, 3.0, 4 and 4+, quick-charge systems, Quick Charge 5 aims to become a point of reference, directing the development of the next Android devices.
Certainly, therefore, soon we will see on Xiaomi smartphone the new ultra fast-charging system, which, however – at the moment – is only available for manufacturers, who will have to implement it on future devices. Qualcomm guarantees that Quick Charge 5 could be ready to go on the market – aboard the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and 865+ (and later models) – starting from the third quarter of 2020.
