Death Note is one of the most famous series and this is due to a new perspective that it gives us regarding death. In the past, we have seen theories such as where Light Yagami’s most serious mistake is revealed, but we all share with Light, the main character, his decisions of who should die and who should not, and although at the end of the series, Ryuk decides to end his life, we are still not sure what has happened to Light’s soul, until now. So what happened to Light Yagami after his death?
Death Parade follows the same line of idea of death as Death Note nine years later. In the original series, we meet immortal characters, like the shinigami, in Death Parade, it talks about the “arbitrators” who are waiters that are challenging the bar’s visitors to a game betting their lives. During the game, they will decide who will reincarnate or who will have their souls sent into the void.
In this theory, we can have an idea of what has happened to Light’s soul
In this part of the story we can see (in episode 6 of season 1) an arbitrator named Ginty testing Mayu, a follower, and Harada his idol. None of these characters survive, which we see after several episodes, mainly because Mayu sacrifices herself for Harada and then Ginty also decides that Harada must also die.
In this CBR theory, things get interesting when Ginty gives Mayu the opportunity to save Harada‘s soul in exchange for the soul of a stranger. In the image of the video of Ginty, we see this stranger, barely without dialogue, refusing Mayu‘s request, with a surprising resemblance to Light, the main character of Death Note and of whom we had not seen anything after the end of the series.
It is known that he is the same age as Light when he died, 2 years old, has the same blood type, the same guise, and is also a Kira, dedicated to killing. Meanwhile, even with these similarities, it is still surprising that Madhouse, the animation studio of both stories, has decided to draw both characters so similar, with Light‘s character being one of their most famous worldwide.
It has not been confirmed that this theory is true, but it would explain what happened to the character’s soul at the end of the series, given that also the arbitrator of the dead, Ginty, after the games and at the end of the story of Mayu and Harada, decides that no matter what they do, they are all doomed, including the stranger even though his soul is not in this game. What do you think about this theory?
